Code of Conduct

Cleckheaton Board Game Night/Club is based on Friendship, Trust, Consideration, and Respect for others and oneself. When attending, every member and attendee agrees to abide by these principles.

Unfortunately, some members and attendees are not always prepared to keep this promise and can disrupt the whole club with their poor behaviour, spoiling the events and fun for other members and attendees.

Therefore, the following “Code of Conduct” has been written to clarify what is expected from each member and attendee. Also, to establish a simple procedure should a member or attendee’s behaviour or actions be considered by the Club Chairman as being unacceptable.

Examples of unacceptable behaviour

  1. Violence towards other members, attendees, bar staff/management, helpers, visitors, Club Chairman, Committee Members, and other customers
  2. Behaviour likely to cause danger to themselves or others
  3. Use of vulgar, abusive, or offensive language
  4. Bullying of any kind - verbal or physical
  5. Distruptive behaviour, e.g. refusing to let other players take turns, etc
  6. Behaving in an unkind or disrespectful manner towards other members, attendees, bar staff/management, helpers, visitors, Club Chairman, Committee Members, and other customers, e.g. talking during announcements, etc
  7. The deliberate damage of equipment, property, etc belonging to the Club, The George Ltd, another member/attendee, visitor, or customer of The George Ltd

This list is not an exhaustive list of what is or isn’t acceptable; it is to illustrate examples of unacceptable behavior.

Course of Action

Should any member or attendee behave in an unacceptable manner, the following procedure will take place:

  1. The matter should be referred to the Club Chairman who will review the situation.
  2. In the event where unnacceptable manner has occurred, the Club Chairman will give the member or attendee a warning; this will be either verbal or in writing.
  3. Should a further event of unacceptable behaviour occur, the Club Chairman will advise of dismissal from the club. This will be either verbal or in writing.

However, there may be situations where the Club Chairman, and only in exceptional circumstances, where unacceptable manner occurs, the member or attendee will be dismissed without a warning.

This is also outside of The George Limited’s policies, where, in this instance, those policies would override this Code of Conduct.

By attending the club, all members and attendees agree to this Code of Conduct.
